Based on the Phantom 4 design with the same front only avoidance sensors and VSS system and duel IMU redundancy as the Phantom 4 its actually more of a Phantom 4 Pro than the 4 having almost all of the additional features the Phantom 4 Pro brought. [/SIZE]
It has the same 20MP Sony EXMOR 1” sensor camera as the Phantom 4 Pro, offering up to 4K 60fps in H264 as well as having H265 codec options, Auto Focus, Electronic and Mechanical Shutter in burst shooting. More Info on the Camera system used can be found here in my other blog post on the Phantom 4 Pro
Like the Phantom 4 its equipped with the flight autonomy system made up of 5 vision sensors, dual-band satellite positioning (GPS and GLONASS), ultrasonic rangefinders and redundant sensors, and is able to hover precisely in places without GPS and fly in complex environments.
It also has the improved dual forward vision sensors system that also uses the main camera as part of it so it can see as far as 30m out in front, and enable auto brake, hover or detour in front of obstacles within 15-meter range.
Wireless and RC
Like the Phantom 4 Pro its uses the updated Lightbridge system giving up to 7km range, The Phantom 4 Advanced is only capable of 720P live feed on 2.4ghz but its still using the updated Lightbridge system.
It also now has the option of the Plus version controller with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen integrated, the Phantom 4 Advanced+ offers 1000 cd/m2 of brightness, more than twice as bright as conventional smart devices, five-hour battery life and the built-in DJI GO 4 app can allow you to live stream, edit and share your aerial videos and photos instantly.
The Phantom 4 Advanced has the same new flight modes that came with the Pro
Draw, Active Track, TapFly, Smart RTH & Gesture Modes are all available.
Smart Advanced RTH
This is a feature that just keeps getting overlooked and its a massive one in my opinion, First seen on the Phantom 4 Pro and Inspire 2 the Phantom 4 Advanced can automatically choose the best route to return home depending on environment, It records its route as it flies allowing it to return along the same route avoiding obstacles if the control signal is disconnected.
Based on its altitude at the time of disconnection, the Phantom 4 Advanced is also able to adjust its flight path to avoid obstacles it has seen during its flight, at takeoff it will record the scene below and compare its recording with what it sees as it returns, for more precise landing. It can also detect the ground to see whether there is a suitable spot for landing. If any obstacles are found, or there is water on the ground, it will alert the pilot and hover at an appropriate height, helping the aircraft to land more safely.
Power & Performance
Its got the same larger 5870mah battery as the Pro thats giving up to 30m flight time and improved top speed.
Sport Mode adds extra agility and higher speed reaching 45mph (72kph).
Tripod Mode limits speed to 4mph (7kph) provides precision control for fine framing and indoor flying.
Overall the Phantom 4 Advance is more of a Pro with out all round Object Avoidance and some Lightbridge features than it is a P4 with the Pro camera attached, the whole craft has had the same updates and feature improvements the Phantom 4 Pro had.
The Phantom 4 Advanced is available from The DJI Store now for £1469 UK and $1349 US
